Over the last few years I have been scouring the web, and emailing people to try to collect as much MZ-80k software as possible. I now have a decent collection of programs (mostly games), including the very hard to find Star Trek that was originally shown on much of Sharps Japanese advertising and brochures. I even have 4 different versions of Space invaders!!!.
My plan in the near future is to organize what I have and make it available on the web in .M12 (MZT) format.
Unfortunately, as much as I love the site, SharpMZ.org does not seem to have much activity recently, and I found its list of software for the MZ80k\'s very small indeed. Basically I want to create the biggest repository for MZ80k software anywhere.
Anyway, Im definitely still looking for software (the more the better) so if you have any MZT, MZF, M12, or WAV files or even real tapes for the MZ80k. Id love to hear from you. Come on, lets all get our act together and save what we can before its gone forever.
Cheers

All the members of the club have access to any of the libraries. There is a nearly full catalogue of software for each Sharp machine, you just need to be a member of the club. I think part of the problem actually with this website is that people think the website is the club. It's not. It's just a small extension of the club so that the club has a presence on the internet. |

Thanks for the info.
I see that the yearly fees are a reasonable 5 UKpounds, however I have to admit to being a little surprised that there is no other way to pay the fee except by cheque or postal order. Living in Japan this makes it very difficult to become a member as cheques are non existent and a postal order will cost in the region of 20 - 30 UKpounds to send!
Is there no 'modern' way to send money such as paypal?

They have literally just stopped taking Paypal actually due to the fees that Paypal take which don't go to the club. You could try emailing the treasurer of the club, if you can't find his details then I can get them

Did you try these disk images?

Greetings. I'm no real Sharp user, but I'm very interested in all things retrogaming. Well nowadays, I'm spending more time researching stuff and reading about it, (like, what platforms was that game released for etc.)then actually playing. Inititally, I didn't pay much attention to the European Sharp scene thinking most of it was homebrew stuff (which, don't get me wrong, can be fun, but there isn't that much to discover cross-platform wise for instance), I was aware the situation in Japan was different. But recently I have been reading a lot in retromags and noticed ads that also mentioned the Sharp Mz80 models, such as for "the Valley". And then I took a second look and discovered over at SharpMz.org that Solo Software for instance released quite a number of games.
I already have Japanese release lists for the MZ-1500 and MZ-2500 (though it surprised me how little I could find, even in Japanese P2P -
here's a cool screenshot site btw.
I'm missing such information for the lower Mz models. So if anyone has catalogs, ads or similar information I'd be very interested to see that put up somewhere ( or send to me directly of course ) Of course I'm also interested in game images. I already got anything that's of use of me from sharpmz.org I think.
I also hang a lot around over at the Tokugawa forum which is Pc-98 focused but also has a section dealing with other Japanese retro computers, I distributed the probably largest Sharp X1 set in the western sphere sometime ago there, check it out if you're interested.
If anyone want's to share interesting things related to Sharp computers (or others - there a still a lot unknowns, for example the Toshiba Pasopia or Sony SMC-777), I'm sure he is welcome to do so as well.
My Mz-2500 stuff is currently unsorted (I do know there's YS3 included for example) and I have very few Mz-1500 images, if there's some need here I'd provide those of course, too.

I don_t like ebay's Paypal.
Why do I need Papypal? Everyone has a bank account. Each bank within our world is able to transfer by IBAN and BIC without costs, which I already used. Sorry, I can't understand the problem.

Great! Would be nice if you let's see them too...

Thanks, that's a very great offer which I'm waiting for years. Information about 1500 and 2500 are very rare and searched for by me, a lot of MZ-fans and European programmers of emulators. For these programmers the 2500 is like a hard closed oyster... Please help. Thank you.

I uploaded what I could currently find for Mz-2500 and some Mz 1500 info (my hd is a mess) here: http://www.multiupload.com/4E7L4S4Y1Z
(without the br, dunno what's up with urls)
I don't know if the emulator is the most current version, check
the author's page here:
http://homepage3.nifty.com/takeda-toshiya/
There's of course lot's of other Mz stuff he worked on, be sure to check out the pictures if you don't know this site already.
The images are as I said unsorted, and still in Japanese for the most part, you might have to set your regional system to Japanese as well to extract them without messing names up. |

I also have problems with this. I put a lot of spaces after an URL until a line break occurs and this helps. I've downloaded your file. Wow! Thanks a lot! Now we search for schematic diagrams... ;-)

That's a big problem for us. Nobody knows what about he's talking on on his site. For me it's like taking a look into the ASCII character block of an exe-file by a hex editor ;-))
Thanks. Let me know whenever I can help.

url processing is dodgy. I just put a space before and after them and that seems to clear it up. I've edited the previous post like this. |
