Topic MZ-80K Section

MZ-80K Section Having owned a Sharp MZ80K since 1980 and being a terrible hoarder, I have for many years moved my old MZ80K from one storage location to another, never once running it up.

However, on 21/07/2010, I decided to see if it was still working. As it had not been switched on for probably 20 years at least, I did not hold out much hope. I put the power lead in the back and switched on. Much to my surprise, the green LED was glowing on the front of the computer. I then looked at the screen and was amazed to see it was working. An old Space Invaders tape was still in the tape drive, but it took a moment to cast my mind back 20 or so years to remember the command. Then I remembered, LOAD! So I typed it in, rewound the tape and pressed Play. After a couple of minutes I got CHECK SUM ERROR, so I took the tape out, gave it a shake, rewound it a tried again. This time success! All the memories came flooding back. I'm amazed it still worked after all these years, all I need to do now is try to locate the manual and some of the old tapes and then I'll have to invite my family round to see our old family computer back in action!
